Project Information

Grevena-Kozani is a Greek miner having the rights to explore and mine chromite deposits in Central Greece. Old mining operations in the area of Aetoraches coupled with recent field mapping from the Client allowed to form a preliminary exploration program.
  • Client :Grevena-Kozani
  • Location :Greece
  • Year launched :2017
  • Status :Finished
  • Value :0.5 M€
  • Drilled :5,000 meters

Project Description

One (1) surface rig was deployed to conduct exploration drilling in a 50x50m grid. A combination of destructive and wireline core drilling was necessary to fulfil project requirements and identify the geometry of subsurface chromite deposit. Vertical boreholes reached a maximum depth of 360m providing useful insight into the geology of the area and the shape of the deposit.

Project Challenge

The project included a combination of destructive and core drilling down to the desired depth.

  • Combination of destructive and core drilling
  • High recovery required
  • Multiple intersected chromite intervals

RESULTS

The exploration program managed to unravel subsurface geometry providing useful insights into the geology of the area and the shape of the deposit.
